WCFBCU DEDICATES NEW ADMINISTRATION BUILDING
The skyline of Downtown Wabash has been taking on a new look the last 6 months - especially coming from the south. An impressive new building has been developing on Wabash street. On July 24, Wabash County Farm Bureau Credit Union President Bruce Ingraham and the Board of Directors officially dedicated their new 10,640 sq. ft. brick administration building. The building contains 9 enclosed offices, a board room with multi-media capabilities, a 60 seat training room with multi-media capabilities and kitchen, and an abundance of workstations for support personnel. Many good things have been happening in the downtown area of Wabash from Canal street to the river! This is just another positive improvement in that section of our city! The building will house the offices of President and CEO, Accounting, Human Resources, and Marketing for all branches. In addition, the parking areas between the new structure and the Credit Union branch have been restructured and remodeled for better traffic flow and convenience.
ANNUAL DINNER TAKING SHAPE
If anything plans are running a little ahead of schedule for the 2001 Wabash Area Chamber of Commerce Annual Dinner. The committee has been hard at work for several months. PLEASE PUT THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 1 ON YOUR CALENDAR! Remember, Whites Residential and Family Services is our Business of the Year for 2001 and a special program is being planned with their help. We are looking for several businesses that might want to help defray the cost of a quality Christian comedian for the evening. The committee will be entertaining special recognition for those sponsors. Call Galen at 563-1168.
CRIME STOPPERS TO RAISE FUNDS
The Wabash County Crime Stopper Board has good news and bad news. The good news is that criminal activity in Wabash County has been relatively slow the past couple years. That means that there has not been an abundance of claims for tips that the Board had to process. It has been about 3 years since the Board has had to do any fund raising. That came in the form of a golf outing. The bad news is that the time has come for the organization to replenish those tip funds. Recent payment for a tip leading to the arrest of the Lake City Bank robbery suspect along with a newly installed locally answered tip line has left the Board no choice but to launch a campaign. Watch for more information in the mail or just mail your donation to Crime Stoppers. PO Box 111 Wabash In 46992.

VANVOORHIS CELEBRATES 25TH YEAR AS WABASH BUSINESSPERSON
Congratulations to Steve VanVoorhis who is celebrating his 25th year in business in the Wabash community. Think about the setting 25 years ago when not everyone was familiar with Edward D. Jones (at that time) and a new, young investment representative was beginning the struggle to make things work in an office in Wabash IN. Many of those who did invest were still convinced that they needed to do business with a "big city firm" located a distance from Wabash. After all, how much could an office in Wabash know about the market? And compared to the technology available and being used today, they were not all wrong. Steve proudly remembers back to those days and will also reflect that the first organization that he joined was the Wabash Area Chamber of Commerce! He certainly has experienced growth above and beyond the market. He has also given back to the community at all times. His travels have taken him on and off the Board of Directors for the Wabash Chamber countless times along with the Library Board, Kiwanis Board as well as President, WEDCOR Board, church activities, and more. He can still be seen working on the most critical Boards in our county such as YMCA, Wabash County Hospital Foundation, and Community Foundation of Wabash County. While serving locally, Steve has grown professionally to be recognized in Edward Jones circles, having responsibilities over a large regional territory. Not only has Steve grown a business in Wabash, he has partnered with his wife Linda to raise Amy, 17, and Katie, 14. Steve is in the process of thanking his customers--now the Wabash community needs to send thanks his way.

HAVE YOU PUTT PUTTED TODAY?
There finally is an answer to the question, "Isn't there anything new to do in Wabash?". It is found out in an area where families have already found competition, kids, entertainment, sportsmanship, and summer fun. With the Morett Sports Complex as its backdrop Wabash Putt Putt Golf and Games finally has given kids of all ages something to do. July was an exciting time for owners Russ and Kim Abell as the project we had been talking about for over a year began taking shape on Water Ridge Parkway. Russ, a full time GDX Automotive employee, and Kim, a nurse at Wabash County Hospital, have invested their free time to bring Russ' youth passion of putt putt golf back to Wabash. Two 18 hole courses are now open with 9 holes being ADA accessible. A five station batting cage is being completed as of this writing. Future years will bring a go-kart track, expanded arcade, and even more. Bring the family out as I did to test their skill. Be sure to ask about the economical family pass and special party rates. Remember, this is a true Putt Putt course so don't expect to find those obstacles of chance or exotic mountains - this is a true course of skill. You can also qualify for international tournaments through the Professional Putters Association. A grand opening will be coming shortly.
